Oh Gracie girl, we adore you. 🥰

It’s hard to believe that 5 months ago, Gracie suddenly lost her best friend Pearl. 💔 Cornish Cross chickens can live happy lives in sanctuary but they still need certain restrictions put in place due to their abnormally large size. These genetically bred massive chickens are traditionally killed around their one month birthday and sold as quick “meat”. Gracie is not meat. She is a 2.5 year old living, breathing, sentient being who is fully capable of memories, thoughts, wisdom, & love… and I don’t think she’ll ever forget her friend Pearl. Thank you for continuously bringing us joy every day, G. ❤️

Gracie lives in her comfy house along with her tiny sidekick bantam rooster, Figaro aka Figgy. They’re quite a pair! 😌

Monarchs are essential pollinators!
Help future generations by keeping insecticides out of your yard. Create native, nectar-bearing flower gardens and of course, plant a variety of milkweeds (their ONLY host plants)! Please leave some space in your yard for these hardworking butterflies to rest and refuel. 🌈🖤

Serviceberry season has begun! 🌳 The berries are especially delicious and rich in fiber and antioxidants, but the chickens only get a small number of treats. 🍬 To balance out the sweets, we started growing our coop-side kale from seed in March. Bon appetite! 👩‍🍳🪴
